Is this you?
If weight has become hard to manage, a physician-led assessment looks at the medical picture before any plan is discussed.
Repeated attempts that have not lasted, and you want a medical perspective.
Gradual gain alongside tiredness, sleep changes or other symptoms worth reviewing.
Recent blood tests or check-ups you would like interpreted in context.
You prefer a doctor to review options, suitability and follow-up rather than going it alone.
Any treatment option is considered only after assessment and is not suitable for everyone. Individual results vary and no specific outcome is promised.
Start with your real problem
People come to AAMC for different reasons. Some have tried dieting again and again. Some are considering medical treatment. Some lose weight but cannot maintain it. Others are gaining weight and do not understand why. Start with what is happening to you.
You are ready to take your weight seriously and want a medically guided plan rather than another generic programme.
Your weight keeps increasing and you are not sure what is contributing. A medical review can look at your weight history, current health, medications, previous results and other relevant factors.
You can make progress, but maintaining it has been difficult. A different approach may be needed when the same cycle keeps repeating.
Dr. Jose can review your health, medications, previous treatment and relevant risk factors before discussing suitable medical options.
Bring details of what you used, how you responded and any concerns you had.
Weight and blood sugar can be part of the same wider metabolic picture. Bring recent glucose or HbA1c results if you have them.
Weight changes may happen alongside fatigue, poor sleep, medication changes or other health concerns that should be considered.
That is exactly what the consultation is for. You do not need to diagnose yourself or choose the treatment first.
You already know what you want to change. The consultation helps decide how to approach it.

For some adults, prescription weight-management treatment may form part of a medical weight-loss plan. But the right treatment depends on the individual. Before prescription treatment is considered, Dr. Jose may review your current weight and weight history, previous weight-loss attempts, current medications, previous treatment, medical conditions, blood sugar and metabolic health, blood pressure, relevant symptoms and existing laboratory results.
One person may need medical treatment. Another may need further investigation. Another may need changes to an existing treatment plan.
Prescription weight-management treatment is not appropriate for every patient, which is why the consultation comes before the treatment decision.
If medication is prescribed, the patient obtains it through a pharmacy rather than AAMC operating as a retail medication seller.
Your weight is not the whole story
Weight change does not always come down to one thing. Your consultation can look at several areas together.
Weight History
When your weight started changing, what worked before, what did not last.
Blood Sugar
Blood sugar and weight can be part of the same metabolic picture.
Cholesterol
Cholesterol results can add context about wider metabolic health.
Blood Pressure
Cardiovascular risk factors matter as well as the number on the scale.
Sleep
Poor or changing sleep can be important information in the review.
Clinical assessment
Your Weight Picture
Reviewed together in one consultation — not scored, not ranked, and not diagnosed from a form.
Medication
Current or previous medications may be relevant to the wider review.
Eating Patterns
Current habits and previous attempts matter more than a generic diet sheet.
Physical Activity
Your routine, activity level and any limitations shape a realistic plan.
Existing Conditions
Other health concerns may change how weight management is approached.
Hormone-Related Symptoms
Hormone conditions affect weight in some people. Weight change alone does not prove one.

Your physician
Dr. Jose Lopez · Internal Medicine Physician
You should not have to decide on your own whether you need prescription treatment, injections, more tests, or simply a different approach.
Dr. Jose Lopez provides Medical Weight Management consultations at AAMC Polyclinic in Business Bay. His Internal Medicine background allows the consultation to look beyond weight alone and consider other adult health concerns that may be relevant.
Start with what you have already tried. Then decide what should come next.
What Dr. Jose Reviews
Dr. Jose Lopez is identified by AAMC as an Internal Medicine Physician.
What happens first?
Tell us what has been happening — weight changes, what you have tried, what you want help with now.
Medical history, current medications, symptoms, previous treatment and other relevant concerns.
Blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure and other markers may be relevant depending on your situation.
Bring laboratory results, prescriptions or reports. Testing is not repeated automatically.
Not every patient needs the same tests. Additional investigation should have a reason.
Lifestyle changes, management of related concerns, medical treatment when appropriate, and follow-up.
Testing with a purpose
Not necessarily.
You do not need to buy a large weight-loss blood-test package before you see the doctor. Start with the consultation. Dr. Jose can review your health history, current medications, previous results, existing medical conditions, symptoms and previous treatment, then decide whether additional testing would actually be useful. Depending on the individual, areas such as blood sugar, cholesterol, thyroid function or other health concerns may need further assessment.
Not how it works
Everyone gets the same large weight-loss blood panel before seeing the doctor.
More tests are not automatically better, and AAMC does not publish a fixed universal testing panel.
How it works at AAMC
If testing is recommended you should know what is being checked, why it is relevant, whether you need to prepare, what the result could help explain and what happens after the result.
More tests are not automatically better. The useful test is the one that helps answer a clinical question.
More than one path
There is no single programme that should be applied to every patient. For suitable adults, prescription treatment may be considered after medical assessment — it is not automatically appropriate for everyone.
The centre of the plan
Your Individual Plan
There is no single programme applied to every patient, and medication is not the starting point.
Realistic changes to eating patterns rather than a generic diet sheet.
Built around your routine, activity level and any limitations.
Sleep and daily routine can be part of the plan.
Management of other medical concerns that may be relevant.
Prescription weight-management treatment when clinically appropriate, obtained from a pharmacy.
Further investigation only where it answers a clinical question.
Ongoing review when required, based on what is actually happening.
After your first visit
AAMC provides a complimentary follow-up contact approximately 28 to 48 hours after the initial Medical Weight Management consultation. The team checks how you are feeling and whether you have questions or concerns.
Weight management is not always a one-appointment process. The next step should depend on what is actually happening, not on a fixed programme everyone follows.

Step 02
AAMC contacts you approximately 28 to 48 hours after the initial consultation to check how you are feeling and whether you have questions or concerns.
Step 03
Ongoing review depends on your individual plan and what Dr. Jose needs to monitor — weight changes, how the plan is working, relevant health markers, new symptoms, treatment tolerance where relevant and whether the approach should change.
