START WITH THE REASON YOU NEED A DOCTOR

What Can You See Dr. Jose Lopez For?

Internal Medicine is often useful when an adult health concern does not fit neatly into one category or several health issues need to be considered together.

I Have Symptoms but Don’t Know the Cause

Fatigue, dizziness, headaches, changes in sleep, weight changes or simply feeling unlike yourself may have several possible explanations.

My Blood Pressure Needs Review

Bring recent readings, medication information and previous results if you have them.

I Have Blood Sugar or Cholesterol Concerns

Dr. Jose can review existing results alongside your wider health, medication and related risk factors.

I Have Several Health Concerns at Once

When symptoms, medications and existing conditions overlap, Internal Medicine can provide one place to review the wider picture.

I Want My Results Explained

Bring blood tests, imaging reports, medical reports or other previous results.

I Want a Preventive Health Review

You do not need to wait until you feel sick. A preventive consultation can review your history, current health, risk factors and screening needs.

THE WIDER MEDICAL PICTURE

One Doctor to Bring the Pieces Together

Adult health problems do not always appear one at a time.

Fatigue may occur alongside poor sleep. Blood pressure may sit alongside blood sugar or cholesterol concerns. Medication can affect symptoms or laboratory results. An abnormal test result may make more sense when it is reviewed alongside your medical history.

Dr. Jose’s Internal Medicine role is to bring the relevant information together before deciding what should happen next.

That can include:

  • Your current symptoms
  • Medical history
  • Current medications
  • Previous diagnoses
  • Existing laboratory or medical reports
  • Relevant physical assessment
  • Preventive health needs
  • Ongoing conditions
  • Questions about the current treatment plan

The goal is not to force every problem into one diagnosis.

The goal is to understand what needs attention and what the next step should be.

About Internal Medicine at AAMC

YOU DO NOT NEED TO DIAGNOSE YOURSELF

When You Know Something Has Changed but Don’t Know Why

Many patients do not arrive saying: “I know exactly what condition I have.” They arrive saying:

  • “I’m tired all the time.”
  • “My results have changed.”
  • “My blood pressure keeps changing.”
  • “My weight is different.”
  • “I’m taking several medications.”
  • “I just don’t feel like myself.”

Those are valid reasons to start a medical conversation.

Internal Medicine can be useful because the consultation does not have to begin with one predetermined diagnosis.

Dr. Jose can assess the concern and decide whether the next step should involve treatment, monitoring, testing, follow-up or another specialty.

YOUR APPOINTMENT

What Happens When You See Dr. Jose Lopez?

  1. 01

    Explain Why You Came

Start with the main concern in your own words. You do not need to organise it into a medical diagnosis.

  2. 02

    Review Relevant History

Dr. Jose may review previous conditions, medication, family history, previous treatment and other information relevant to the concern.

  3. 03

    Review Existing Results

Bring previous blood tests, reports, prescriptions or investigations if you have them.

  4. 04

    Clinical Assessment

A relevant physical assessment may be performed depending on the reason for your visit.

  5. 05

Decide Whether More Information Is Needed

Not everyone requires additional testing. Further investigation should have a clinical reason.

  6. 06

    Agree on the Next Step

The next step may involve treatment, medication review, monitoring, preventive care, follow-up or referral when another type of care is appropriate.

CARE BEFORE SOMETHING FEELS WRONG

Preventive Health Reviews With Dr. Jose

You do not need to wait for symptoms before booking. Dr. Jose also leads AAMC’s preventive care.

A preventive review can consider:

  • Medical history
  • Family history
  • Current medications
  • Previous test results
  • Blood pressure
  • Metabolic health
  • Previous screening
  • Current risk factors
  • Which checks may be relevant next

The goal is not to order the largest possible test panel. The goal is to understand which health information is actually useful for you.

WEIGHT & METABOLIC HEALTH

Medical Weight Management With Dr. Jose Lopez

Dr. Jose also provides AAMC’s Medical Weight Management consultations.

The process begins with medical assessment rather than choosing medication before the appointment.

Weight history, general health, medications, existing results and relevant metabolic concerns can be considered before the treatment plan is decided.

For suitable patients, medical treatment may form part of the plan when clinically appropriate. If medication is prescribed, the patient obtains it from a pharmacy.

AAMC also provides a complimentary follow-up contact approximately 28 to 48 hours after the initial Medical Weight Management consultation to check how the patient is feeling and whether there are concerns.

WHEN HORMONES MAY BE PART OF THE QUESTION

What If You Think Your Symptoms Are Hormone Related?

Fatigue, weight changes, sleep changes or other symptoms may make people wonder whether hormones or thyroid function are involved.

Those symptoms can also have other causes.

AAMC’s Hormone Health pathway starts with assessment before assuming a hormone diagnosis or ordering a standard panel.

Dr. Jose’s Internal Medicine role provides the wider adult-health context around these questions.

BRING WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE

Have Reports or Results You Want Explained?

You can bring medical information from another clinic or hospital to your consultation. That may include:

  • Blood-test results
  • Imaging reports
  • Specialist letters
  • Previous diagnoses
  • Prescription information
  • Treatment plans

Dr. Jose can review the available information in the context of your current health and discuss whether anything requires further attention.

A second medical opinion does not automatically mean rejecting previous care. Sometimes it simply means having another physician review the information and explain the options.

NOT EVERY HEALTH ISSUE ENDS IN ONE VISIT

Follow-Up When Your Health Needs It

Some concerns can be addressed in a single consultation. Others need continued review.

Follow-up may be useful when:

  • New results become available
  • Medication has changed
  • A condition is being monitored
  • Symptoms continue
  • Further investigation has been arranged
  • A preventive issue needs ongoing observation
  • A treatment plan needs reassessment

The purpose of follow-up is not to schedule appointments without a reason. It is to review what has changed and decide whether the plan still makes sense.

HOW CARE IS APPROACHED

Clearer Answers, Not More Noise

  1. 01

    Start With the Full Picture

Symptoms, history, medication and existing results provide context.

  2. 02

    Testing Should Have a Reason

More tests do not automatically mean better care.

  3. 03

    Explain What Comes Next

Patients should understand why a test, treatment, follow-up or referral is being considered.

  4. 04

    Use Existing Information

Bring previous reports instead of automatically repeating everything.

  5. 05

    Connect Related Health Concerns

Several health issues may need to be considered together.

  6. 06

Refer When Another Specialty Is More Appropriate

Internal Medicine does not need to pretend every problem belongs within Internal Medicine.
